I have been through hell and back 100 times over with my insomnia journey. Can’t tell you how many times I wished for life to be over. How many times I woke up and went to bed in tears because I felt so fragmented from the lack of sleep.

But the thing is, I never stopped living. I fought for finding little places of peace, little places of joy. And if joy wasn’t possible then I fought for finding ok-ness.

Insomnia doesn’t have to mean the end of living. It means you are stepping into a chapter of healing and so yes that might mean letting go of and old life. Old way of doing things.

But once you do? You create space for new beauty, new connection, new growth and healing to occur.
Don’t stop living.

Noting meditation is a powerful and simple beginner practice and one i come back to often to foster deeper presence in my life..

The practice is to simply note when a distraction arises while attempting to focus on the breath. I suggest keeping the noting to 3 easy categories: sensation, emotion, or thought. When one of these emanates, as they will throughout your mediation, you will “note” or label the distraction rather than allow yourself to be swept away by it. Then, gently guide yourself back to your breath. Over and over, bringing yourself back to this moment.
